Who?

Delaney has been really into birds and their songs lately, she alwasy wants to know which bird is making which sound.

We were reading one of her Farm Animals books last night. It asks which animal makes x sound. When I read the owl page - "who says hooo hoooo?" she said "mourning dove"

Hey

Lately every sentence starts with hey.

"Hey, what is that?"
"Hey, who is that on the TV?"
"Hey, where are we going?"
"Hey, what shoes are you putting on me?"
"Hey, what kind of bird is that?"

Oh come on

We were at the grocery store, in the baby food aisle. She asked me for some and I said no, you're not a baby. She said "oh come on, I am a baby"

It matches

The day care teacher this morning said "oh, you have on pink shoes" and Naney said "yeah, they match my outfit"

I'm not sure

We were outside this morning and she said "what is that saying 'ketee ketee ketee?'" I said "is it a bird?" she said "uhhh (scrunches up her face) I'm not sure..."

Uh... yeah

This morning we were sitting on the couch cuddling right after I got her up. She took her arm back, swung it toward my face, stopping about a half inch from my face. Then she said "did I smack you right in the face?"

Who am I?

For the longest time, I couldn't call her anything except Dominik Hasek, to the point where she would not answer to Delaney or Naney. Apparently we've moved on from her being Dom all the time; now she's a different person every day.

So far she's been Dominik Hasek, The Goalie, Maid Marian, Jannot (the name of one of my friends that we had brunch with last weekend), and goalie-katoalie.

Today she's Darren McCarty.

"Your friend"

My mom took the three grandkids somewhere the other day. While they werein the car, my nephew was making the typical 8-year-old boy noises. Delaney turned to my niece and said "what is your friend saying?"

"These kids"

My sister was babysitting Delaney; when I got back to her house, Naney was laying on my niece's bed with my niece & nepehw. I said "what are you doing?" She said "I'm laying here with these kids. Take a picture of us."

The Goalie

Delaney started referring to herself in the third person last week, except she's calling herself "the goalie", and I am "the goalie's mama."

"The goalie is in the car seat"

"The goalie's mama is driving the car"

"The goalie is in the stroller walking the dogs"

She went up to my mom with a barette hanging out of her nose and said "the goalie put that up his nose."

Stevie Ray Vaughan

In an effort to expose her to the good things in life from an early age, we were watching an SRV concert on On Demand. When Stevie was playing the guitar behind his back, I pointed it out to Naney. The next time we were watching, I wasn't paying much attention, and she said "look mama, it's behind his back!"

Kicking off

I was telling a Delaney story to my friend Tani, and she suggested I start blogging Delaney stories so here it is. All the Naney stories you can stand, and then some.
